Paul Maginnis
Paul has had a fantastic time serving the people of Sawley over the past four years. Using his background working with people, he has, alongside colleagues, delivered for people of all ages in the ward. This includes organising 6 balanceability sessions to help children aged 2-6 to learn to cycle, setting up Sawley Youth Club in 2020, alongside Cllr Sewell, which has ran hundreds of sessions with over 150 local young people and by providing careers advice. Paul has also worked to address loneliness and isolation in the community by organising Sawley Fish and Chip Nights and is keen on protecting the most vulnerable in the community having secured funding for Level 2 First Aid Courses to be run in the Village . Looking ahead, Paul is planning to create a Parent and Todler Group to be held twice weekly at Sawley Baptist Church and wants to srrengthen work with partner organisations to tackle issues surrounding anti-social behaviour in Sawley.

Kristin Simmons
Kristin is a local mum who has lived in the area for 16 years. After graduating from the University of Nottingham with an MA, she and her husband decided that Sawley was the best place for to live and to raise their family. She is an active member of the local community. Kristin also has many years of volunteering experience including as Charity Trustee and School Governor and enjoys helping out at a weekly youth club. She loves the local area and wants to make a difference in our community. Sawley is blessed with many lovely outdoor green spaces and surrounded by countryside. Kristin want our playgrounds, canals and countryside to be clean and safe for residents of all ages to enjoy. Tackling the causes of anti-social behaviour and demonstrating that Sawley is a place to take pride in living is priority for me. She is also looking forward to supporting initiatives that address loneliness and bring our community together. Finally, she believes the Council should efficiently provide a good value service that benefits the people who live here, whether it is handling our waste and recycling, managing Borough-owned communal spaces, or planning for the future. As your Borough Councillor, Kristin will listen to your views and concerns, and do her best to represent the residents of Sawley Ward.
