The pool being used is only 4.75 m so the group need to swim 8-26 lengths each.
Cllr Walton said: “We are raising money for a good local cause that will greatly benefit the children of Sawley. If anyone would like to sponsor us they can send their donations to Sawley Infant and Nursery School, Wilmot Street, Sawley.”
This is the second year that the group has taken part in this challenge. Last year they raised money for Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance and completed the challenge in just under 12 hours.
Taking part in the swim are Cllr Daniel Walton, Angela Walton, Anne Marie Hall, Becci Williamson, Hayley Walton and Cllr Jo Bonham. Both Daniel and Jo are councillors in Sawley.
