DCC Councillors Assist Long Eaton & Sawley Food Bank During Covid - 19 Pandemic
We are living in very difficult times with the Covid - 19 pandemic and it is amazing how our community has come together to assist each other. As councillors we are all too aware of the difficulties faced by some of our local residents and it is for this reason we decided to assist our local food bank with a Grant of £1050 from the DCC Members Leadership Scheme to purchase food supplies / essentials for local residents in need of support.
Helen Scott, Chair of Trustees of Long Eaton and Sawley Food Bank said;
"The grant of £1050 went towards helping struggling families with food and toiletries over the Christmas period, and invaluable crates for storing and transporting food to our sites"
Also please see some quotes below from local residents who got assistance;
'thank you so much for our food hamper tonight'
'it is amazing and will keep us going all through Christmas. Thank you
'absolutely ecstatic from Hayley and me. Thank you'
'I really needed cleaning stuff, thank you'
'wow, cleaning things too'
DCC Councillors Athwal, Griffiths and Hickton said;
"In these difficult times we are happy to have been able to assist the work of the many volunteers who assist the Long Eaton & Sawley Food Bank with the grant funding of £1050, so that no one is short of food and essential supplies at this time"
