DCC Grant to support Sawley Memorial Hall and Community Centre Refurbishment

Derbyshire County Councillor for Sawley Cllr Kewal Singh Athwal has sourced grant funding of £2447 from the DCC Community Priorities Programme to support the refurbishment of the community centre. The centre has had major works carried out internally this summer to improve the facilities for the local community. Cllr Athwal has worked closely with the Sawley Community Association who are responsible for managing the centre, which is used by a vast majority of the local residents. This centre was built in 1958 in memory of servicemen who gave their lives in the 1st and 2nd world wars.

 "I am very pleased to have been able assist this very worthwhile project, this memorial hall was built to commemorate our local servicemen who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the 1st and 2nd world wars  and it gives me great pleasure that this improved facility will continue to benefit our local community for many more years".
