Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash has been unanimously endorsed by local people to fight the seat for the Conservatives at the forthcoming General Election.
At the election, to be held on Thursday 08th June 2017, voters across Erewash will have a clear choice; strong and stable leadership in the national interest with Theresa May and the Conservatives – or weak unstable coalition government led by Jeremy Corbyn.
Addressing an audience of local supporters Maggie said:
“I would first of all like to thank Members for their continued support, it is a true honour to be reselected as the Conservative Candidate for Erewash for the 2017 General Election.
“The next five years are crucial for our Country and, like you, I know that only Theresa May can provide the strong and stable leadership that we need to deliver on the really big issues like Brexit, the economy and HS2.
“The Conservatives go into this election on a high, but we must not be complacent. We have just 41 days to take our message out onto the streets and persuade as many people as possible to vote for me locally on 8th June, in order return Theresa May as our Prime Minister.”
Following the meeting, Erewash Conservative Association Chairman David Stephenson commented:
“Since Maggie was first selected by local Conservatives in 2014, she has proven herself as a strong champion for Erewash, standing up for all local residents.
“Both Maggie and Theresa May enjoy a huge support base here in Erewash, which extends far beyond our local Party’s membership.
“As Conservatives, we will campaign tirelessly over the next 41 days in our pursuit to get Maggie re-elected to Parliament, so she can continue to support the work of Theresa May and her Government”
