Jessica Lee, Member of Parliament for Erewash has welcomed the news from the Secretary of State for Transport that Network Rail have today launch a £20 million fund to open new railway stations in England and Wales.
Proposals for new stations will already have to be at an advanced stage of development, with bids being submitted by the end of February and successful schemes being announced in late March.
Speaking about the launch Jessica Lee MP said:
“I welcome today announcement by the Secretary of State regarding the creation of the New Stations Fund. Since being elected in 2010, I have campaign extremely hard to reopen a station in Ilkeston.
I am now continuing to work with the team at Derbyshire County Council to ensure that Ilkeston’s bid meets the February deadline. “
