Sports Minister Helen Grant and Prospective Conservative MP Maggie Throup visited Long Eaton United FC to find out how a recent Sport England grant had helped to transform the club.

Providing much needed money for Astro pitches as well as creating a new 11 aside grass football pitch at their Grange Park location, the £100,000.00 grant has helped to inspire more boys and girls to play football.

Commenting after the visit Maggie Throup said: “It was great to be able to join Sports Minister Helen Grant when she visited the inspiring Long Eaton United Football Club.

“Seeing children as young as four years old enjoying out door sports on what was a very cold evening shows the importance of well targeted funding at the local level.”
