Victoria Park in Ilkeston has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag status for the second year running confirming it as one of the best parks in the Country.
Conservative led Erewash Borough Council confirmed on Tuesday 17th July 2012 that it had re-applied for the Green Flag award and had been successful and that the Ilkeston Park can continue to fly the flag with pride.
The green flag award is the national benchmark standard for parks in England and Wales and is presented to high quality parks that have excellent facilities and are well-maintained and well-managed.
Conservative Councillor, Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, said:
“We know local residents shared our delight when Victoria Park was awarded the Green Flag last year – our first in Erewash. The news that the Park has achieved the status for the second successive year reflects the quality of this lovely park and clearly demonstrates this Council’s commitment to maintaining the high standards.
“The Green Flag flies with great pride in Victoria Park and it does so because of the hard work that goes in to managing, maintaining and improving the Park all year round.”
