Erewash MP Jessica Lee welcomes The Rt. Hon. Maria Miller, Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport to Long Eaton on Tuesday 23rd July where they visited the Chatsworth Arts Centre & Duchess Theatre.

During a tour of the theatre, Miss Lee introduced Mrs Miller to the Chairman of the Long Eaton & District Arts Council, Leon Wade, as well as trustees and members of the venue’s management team.

Speaking about the visit, Miss Lee said:

“I was keen to show Maria Miller this excellent example of community success. The Minister was made aware of the history of the fire at the theatre and it was explained to her how a very successful group of volunteers came together to rebuild it.

The theatre is now in constant use by various theatrical groups and I would suggest to anyone who hasn’t yet visited, that they will not be left disappointed by any of the productions.

Mrs Miller was very impressed with both the energy and enthusiasm that has gone into rebuilding the theatre and the subsequent work that is being done here.”
